Here I have One Red UK Paperclip that meant absolutely nothing to me a week ago. Over the last couple of days, I must admit, I have assigned a certain value to it. But its value right now lies more in knowing that this red little baby is going to be the start of something new.
Years from now, I may be searching high and low for this particular paperclip. I might be in a position to offer good money to the person who can reunite me with my first paperclip. But as trade is all about relative values, what might be is not relevant for what is. And this is the way it is:
I will trade you this paperclip for something bigger or better or more interesting. Maybe a little feather? Maybe something you don’t know what it is? Maybe something you’ve had for years although you’ve never liked it?
If you can offer me something I really want, I will find a way to come and meet you so we can do the trade and take some pics of the lucky exchange.
